Bates County Recorder of Deeds Office Information

The Recorder of Deeds Office records and preserves all land/real estate transactions within Bates County. Bates County land records start in 1840. The Recorder of Deeds Office handles marriage license applications, issues marriage licenses, and maintains a permanent record of the marriage. The Bates County has marriage records that date back to 1860. The Recorder’s Office also records and files surveys, plats of subdivisions, armed forces discharge papers, federal and state tax liens. The Recorder’s Office of Bates County is not responsible for lien searches, title searches or land research.

All marriage records and tax liens are available to the public, but military discharge records are not. Recorded documents can be accessed through the CIC Remote Access website without a fee. A fee is required to view the image and make copies. Cost for the service is $100.00 a month or $25.00 per day. There are no additional charges for copies.
