Adair County is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The county was formed in 1841 and named after John Adair, a pioneer, soldier, and seventh Governor of Kentucky. The county seat is Kirksville. The Recorder of Deeds office of Adair County is governed by the State Statutes of Missouri. The primary responsibility of the Adair County Recorder’s Office is to record, maintain and preserve the real estate records for Adair County. Adair County Assessor’s Office Information

The primary duty and responsibility of the Adair County Assessor’s Office is to assess all real property within their jurisdiction except that which is otherwise provided by law. This includes residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural classes of property. Real property is revalued every 2 years and the effective date of the assessment is January first of the current year. The assessor determines a full or partial value of new construction, or improvements depending upon the state of completion as of January first.
