Union County Overview

With a total area of 417 square miles, most of which is land, Union County, Mississippi was created in 1870. While uncertainty lies around the source of the county name, it is believed that is was once a union of several large counties. Adjacent counties are: Benton to the north, Tippah to the north, Prentiss to the east, Lee to the southeast, Pontotoc to the south, Lafayette to the southwest, and Marshall to the northwest. The county is home to a portion of nationally protected Holly Springs National Forest. A total of 11 zip codes are in use in the county, and the largest is 38652.
