Pike County Overview

Established in 1815, and named for explorer Zebulon Pike, Pike County had a population of 40,404 as of the 2010 census. The county seat is Magnolia; McComb is the largest community. The county has a total area of 411 square miles, all of which is land, except two square miles of water. The county shares a border to the south and southeast with two Louisiana counties, Tangipahoa Parish, and Washington Parish, respectively. Other neighboring Mississippi counties are: Lincoln to the north, Walthall to the east, and Amite to the west. Eight zip codes are used in the county, 39648 is the largest.

The circuit clerk serves as the registrar of voters, absentee voting for all county, state, and federal elections, reviews prospective jurors for Justice, County, and Circuit Courts, which are randomly drawn by computer and summoned through their office. They also serve as the clerk of the Circuit, County, and Juvenile Court System. It is in the Circuit Clerk’s office that marriage licenses are issued. The Circuit Clerk’s office is also a passport acceptance agent.
