Marshall County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi and was established in 1836. As of the 2010 census, the population was 37,144. Its county seat, and largest community is Holly Springs. The county is named for Chief Justice of the United States John Marshall. The county has a total area of 706 square miles of land, plus four-square miles of water. Bordering counties are: Fayette, TN to the north, Benton MS to the east, Union, MS to the southeast, Lafayette, MS to the south, Tate, MS to the southwest, Desoto, MS to the west, and Shelby, TN to the northwest. A portion of nationally protected Holly Springs National Forest is within the county lines. Of the eight zip codes in use in the county, 38635 is the largest.
