Lincoln County Overview

Lincoln County, Mississippi was created in 1870 and as of the 2010 census, the population was 34,869. Brookhaven is both the county seat and the largest community. The county was named for former POTUS, Abraham Lincoln. The total area of the county is 588 square miles, most of which is land, two square miles is water. The county is home to a portion of the nationally protected Homochitto National Forest, which is overseen by the US Forestry Service. Neighboring counties are: Copiah to the north, Lawrence to the east, Walthall to the southeast, Pike to the south, Amite to the southwest, Franklin to the west, and Jefferson to the northwest.
