Todd County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1855 and named after John Blair Smith Todd, commander of Fort Ripley (1849-56); general in the Civil War; delegate in Congress from Dakota Territory (1861 and 1863-65); governor of Dakota Territory (1869-71). The county seat is Long Prairie. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 24,382 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 980 square miles of which 945 square miles is land and 35 square miles is water. Todd County borders the following counties: Wadena County to the north; Cass County to the northeast; Morrison County to the east; Stearns County to the south; Douglas County to the west and Otter Tail County to the northwest. The County Recorder is the custodian of the land records and vital statistic records pertaining to Todd County. It is the responsibility of the Todd County Recorder’s Office to preserve these records in an archival quality format and ensure it is easily accessible to all the parties concerned.

The following duties of the Todd County Recorder’s Office are:
