Murray County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1857 and named after William Pitt Murray, a Minnesota statesman and member of the territorial legislature. The county seat is Slayton. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 8,533 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 720 square miles of which 705 square miles is land and 15 square miles is water. Murray County borders the following counties: Lyon County to the north; Redwood County to the northeast; Cottonwood County to the east; Nobles County to the south; Rock County to the southwest and Pipestone County to the west. The County Recorder is the custodian of all records of the county pertaining to property titles and transfers. All the recorded documents are public. Copies may be obtained at a nominal cost. We accept requests either by mail or in person. Murray County Assessor’s Office Information

The Murray County Assessor’s office is responsible for identifying and valuing all taxable properties, both real and personal for property tax purposes.
