Murray County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1857 and named after William Pitt Murray, a Minnesota statesman and member of the territorial legislature. The county seat is Slayton. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 8,533 people. The County Recorder is the custodian of all records of the county pertaining to property titles and transfers. Records include various forms of deeds, real estate mortgages, liens, and attachments, contracts for deed and various other documents presented for recording purposes. All the recorded documents are public. Copies may be obtained at a nominal cost. We accept requests either by mail or in person. Murray County Assessor’s Office Information
The Murray County Assessor’s office is responsible for identifying and valuing all taxable properties, both real and personal for property tax purposes. The Assessor’s Office is also responsible for classifying properties based on its current use such as residential, seasonal recreational, agricultural, commercial or industrial etc. The Assessor’s Office also determines whether the homestead status of the property if it is eligible for homestead classification.
