Marshall County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1879 and named after William Rainey Marshall, the fifth governor of Minnesota (1866-1870). The county seat is Warren. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 9,425 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,813 square miles of which 1,775 square miles is land and 38 square miles is water. Marshall County borders the following counties: Kittson County to the north; Roseau County to the north; Beltrami County to the east; Pennington County to the south; Polk County to the south; Grand Forks County, North Dakota to the southwest; Walsh County, North Dakota to the west and Pembina County, North Dakota to the northwest. Marshall County Recorder’s Office Information

The Marshall County Recorder’s Office is responsible for recording all real estate transactions in the county. The Recorder’s Office also records and maintains residue certificates, exchange certificates, CECT plats, amendments, etc. The Recorder’s Office is a local Registrar of the Vital Records for Minnesota Department of Health and issues birth and death certificates. Minnesota birth certificates from 1900 to present are available at any courthouse in Minnesota. For Minnesota births prior to 1900, please contact the county in which the person was born. The Marshall County Recorder also issues marriage certificates and marriage licenses. In Marshall County, the County Recorder is also the abstracter for the county.
