Douglas County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1858 and named after Stephen Arnold Douglas, a former United States Senator from Illinois (1847-1861). The county seat is Alexandria. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 36,545 people.
