The County Recorder’s primary responsibility is to record and maintain permanent public records involving a wide variety of instruments pertaining to real estate, birth, death, marriage, notary public, abstracting, track index searches, owner’s and encumbrance reports, state and federal tax liens, and military discharges. The Recorder’s Office acts as an agency for Minnesota Public Safety and issues and renews Minnesota drivers’ licenses and Minnesota identification cards. Clearwater County Assessor’s Office Information

The primary responsibility of the County Assessor’s Office is the valuation and classification of all taxable real and personal property within the county for property tax purposes according to Minnesota Statutes and Minnesota Department of Revenue Policies. In order to obtain a marriage license in Clearwater County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
