Cass County is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The county was formed in 1851 and named after Lewis Cass, a senator from Michigan (1845–1857) and the United States Secretary of State (1831–1836). The county seat is Walker. The Cass County Recorder’s Office is responsible for recording deeds, mortgages and over 400 different real estate documents. All of these documents are imaged/scanned in-house. The Recorder’s Office is responsible for recording and preserving all legal records of all real estate in the county. This office is also responsible for originating certificates of title conveying land under Torrens land system, recording military service discharges and issuing certified copies, county officials bonds, oaths of office, federal and state tax liens, bankruptcy documents, power of attorney, farm names, government corner certificates, and all official plats.
