There are 111 square miles of water in the area and it is considered part of the ‘thumb.’ Tuscola is bordered by Huron County to the north, Sanilac County to the east, Bay and Saginaw Counties to the west and Lapeer and Genesee Counties to the south. The Tuscola County Clerk is responsible for issuing and maintaining records related to concealed pistol licenses, birth records, marriage and death records, assumed names, co-partnerships, veteran’s discharges, notary bonds, filings for the circuit and family court and administering all election functions. They are also responsible for aiding with genealogy searches. Forms for court, search requests, election documents and marriage are available online, as are some of the records for searching. Most requests must be made via in person request however, during normal business hours.
