The County Clerk for Shiawassee County is responsible for election results, personal protection orders, concealed pistol licenses and business registrations. She is also responsible for all vital records, including birth, death and marriage records and notary public information, as well as military discharges, passport applications and court records. These records are available by in person request but are not available online. A Freedom of Information Act Request form is available online however and all other requests can be made during normal business hours.
The Register of Deeds is responsible for real estate records within the county, which include deeds, land contracts and mortgages, as well as liens and leases. These documents are considered public record and are therefore able to be requested by anyone. These documents may be requested in person as many are not available online. All documents can have a fee attached to them and requests online can be made through the online services page.

The Equalization Department for Shiawassee County is responsible for establishing the equitable value of property taxes and property within the county.
