Located on the western edge of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, the county consists of 1,631 square miles of area with 1,068 of that being part of Lake Michigan. The county is bordered by Muskegon County to the north, Kent County to the East, Allegan County to the south and Milwaukee and Racine Counties of Wisconsin to the west. Approximately 272,701 people lived in the county at the time of the 2013 census. The County Clerk in Ottawa County is responsible for all voter registration records, personal protection orders, concealed weapons permits, marriage licenses, birth and death records, records searching, circuit court filings, notary public documents and custody and support filings. These documents can all be requested directly from the County Clerk as there is no method of requesting the documents directly through the website.
The Register of Deeds takes care of all property related documents within the county, including warranty deeds, mortgages, land records, liens, tract indexes, leases and releases. These documents are considered public record and therefore can be viewed and purchased directly from the court. Some records searches can be conducted online, however most records must be requested directly from the court.
The assessment office for Ottawa County is responsible for maintaining accurate filings of taxable values for all property in the county.

The assessment office maintains assessment rolls and tax rolls as well as information related to taxable determinations for all properties. These documents, as well as information related to plats and parcels, land ownership and property lines are available from the assessment office. Property searches, deed searches, GIS information and sales/property mapping is available online, however the rest of the documentation maintained by this department must be requested in person. There may also be fees associated with getting copies of the documents.

Ottawa Court Records Information
Court record searches can be conducted online in Ottawa County, with many documents available for a fee. There is a $12 charge for each search that is conducted and an additional fee for any register of action. Information can also be requested in person, from the courthouse, during normal business hours. Most court cases are considered public record and the information will be available for public viewing and purchase.
