The County Clerk for Oakland County is responsible for all vital records, including birth, death and marriage records. They are also responsible for personal protection orders, military discharges, concealed weapons permits, circuit and family court filings and fees, voter registration, election information and assumed names. These documents are available by in person request with some genealogy information, documents and death notices available online.
The Register of Deeds is responsible for property related information in Oakland County. This information includes warranties, deeds, liens, leases and mortgages, much of which is available online through the property records search. These documents are also available in person and are considered public record. There is a fee associated with all requests.
The assessment office of Oakland County is responsible for taxable valuations related to all real and personal property within the county.

The assessment office compiles documentation related to property, which includes property owners, descriptions, aerial images, parcels, plats and lines alongside taxable valuations. It is also responsible for surveys and studies as well as determining proper methods for deciding taxable valuation. Oakland County does allow for court records searches online and has their own process for searching circuit and probate court cases. They can be searched according to business name or person name or case number. Requests can also be made directly to the court, in person, during normal business hours.
