Marquette County, Michigan

Marquette County is located in the Upper Peninsula of the state of Michigan. The county was formed on March 9, 1843, and organized in 1851. Marquette County is named after Father Marquette, a Jesuit missionary. Marquette is the largest city in the county and also the county seat; other cities in the county include Ishpeming and Negaunee. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 67,007 people and a total area of 3,425 square miles, of which 1,616 square miles is water and 1,808 square miles is land, making it the largest county in Michigan by land area and 4th largest by total area. Marquette County borders the following counties: Alger County to the east, Delta County to the southeast, Menominee County to the south, Dickinson County to the south,  Iron County to the southwest, Baraga County to the west, Houghton County to the northwest, and Keweenaw County to the north.

Marquette County Marriage License Office
In order to obtain a marriage license in Marquette County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
