Eaton County, Michigan
Eaton County is located in the state of Michigan. The county was formed in 1837 and named for John Eaton, who was Secretary of War under U.S. President Andrew Jackson, making it one of Michigan’s “Cabinet counties”. Charlotte is the county seat and also the largest city in the county; other cities in the county include Eaton Rapids, Grand Ledge, Lansing, Olivet, and Potterville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 107,759 people and a total area of 579 square miles, of which 4.3 square miles is water and 575 square miles is land. Eaton County borders the following counties: Clinton County to the northeast, Ingham County to the east, Jackson County to the southeast, Calhoun County to the south, Barry County to the west, and Ionia County to the northwest.
