Cecil County, Maryland

Cecil County is located in the state of Maryland. The county was formed on June 6, 1674, and named after Cecil Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore and the first Proprietary Governor of the Province (colony) of Maryland. Elkton is the largest city in the county and also the county seat.  According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 101,108 people and a total area of 418 square miles, of which 72 square miles is water and 346 square miles is land. Cecil County borders the following counties: Chester County, Pennsylvania, to the north; Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to the northwest; New Castle County, Delaware, to the east; Harford County to the west; and Kent County to the south.
