Located in the lower section of Maine, Androscoggin County has a population of 107,604, according to the 2013 census. Made of only 497 square miles, with only 29 square miles of water, it’s surrounded by Franklin County to the north, Kennebec County to the northeast, Sagadahoc County to the southeast, Cumberland County to the south and Oxford County to the west. The county split off portions of Cumberland, Lincoln, Kennebec and Oxford counties when it was created in 1854.
