Webster Parish is located in the northwestern part of Louisiana in the Sportsman’s Paradise region. The landlocked Parish is 615 square miles of size of which 22 square miles are water. The Parish is named after Daniel Webster of Massachusetts and New Hampshire in 1871 after breaking off from Bienville, Bossier, and Claiborne parishes. Its population as of the 2013 census estimates was 40,678. Webster Parish is bordered by Lafayette Parish, Arkansas to the north, Columbia Parish, Arkansas to the northeast, Claiborne Parish to the east, Bienville Parish to the southeast, and Bossier Parish to the west. The Parish Clerk is responsible for all personal protection orders, concealed weapons permits, vital records, voter registration, military discharges, assumed names, election results, circuit court filings and fees, notary public documents and family court information. These documents can be requested, for a fee, directly from the court but these documents are not available online. The exception to this is marriage records which have indexes available online if they occurred after 1955.

The Register of Deeds is responsible for mortgages, warranties, deeds, liens and leases on real and personal property within the parish. This information is considered public record and some can be found online. Conveyances and mortgages, both indexes and images, are available through the online portal. For this portal there are rates for daily, monthly and longer terms of access, plus rates for printed pages.
