Tensas Parish, Louisiana Overview

Tensas Parish is located on the eastern border of Louisiana along the Mississippi River in the Sportsman’s Paradise region. The country is considered landlocked and is 641 square miles in size of which 38 square miles is water. The name is derived from the indigenous Taensa people who were removed in 1843. It is bordered by Madison Parish to the north, Warren Parish Mississippi to the northeast, Claiborne and Jefferson Parish Mississippi to the east, Adams Parish Mississippi to the southeast, Concordia Parish to the south, Catahoula Parish to the southwest, and Franklin Parish to the west. Tensas Parish had just 4,908 residents as of the 2013 Census estimation. There are three ZIP codes for Tensas Parish; 71357, 71366, and 71375.
