St. James Parish, Louisiana Overview

St. James Parish is in the south eastern part of Louisiana in what is known as Plantation Country. The Parish is land-locked and is 258 square miles of which 16 square miles is water. Named after Saint James of the Bible this parish had 21,752 residents as of 2013 census estimate. It is bordered by Ascension Parish to the north, St. John the Baptist Parish to the east, Lafourche Parish to the south, and Assumption Parish to the west.
