Named for the native Natchitoches Natives that used to occupy the area. It is bordered by Bienville Parish to the north, Winn parish to the northeast, Grant Parish to the east, Rapides Parish to the southeast, Vernon Parish to the south, Sabine Parish to the west and De Soto and Red River Parishes to the northwest.
