Morehouse Parish is located in the northeastern portion of Louisiana in the Sportsman’s Paradise region. The Parish is land-locked and is 806 square miles in size, 11 square miles of which is water. It is named after Abraham Morehouse, a former Colonel in the United States Armed Forces. It is bordered by Union Parish, Arkansas to the northwest, Ashley Parish, Arkansas to the north, Chicot Parish, Arkansas to the northeast, West Carroll Parish to the east, Richland Parish to the southeast, Ouachita Parish to the southwest, and Union Parish to the west.
