Iberia Parish, Louisiana Overview

Iberia Parish is located in the south central region of Louisiana in Cajun Country. This Parish is located against the Vermillion Bay and the Gulf of Mexico and claims 574 square miles of area of which 456 square miles is water. Iberia Parish is named after the Iberian Peninsula in Europe that contains Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Gibraltar, and a portion of France. It is bordered by the Iberville Parish to the northeast, Assumption Parish to the east, St. Mary Parish to the southeast, Vermillion parish to the west, Lafayette Parish to the northwest and portions of St. Martin parish to both the north and south. The Parish Clerk for Iberia Parish is responsible for personal protection orders, vital records, notary public documents, voter registration, election results, concealed pistol licenses, military discharges, assumed names and circuit court filings and fees. These documents are not generally considered public record but can be requested by those that they are about. Election results are the exception to this rule and are considered public record.
