Evangeline Parish is located in the southwestern portion of Louisiana in the northern portion of Cajun Country. The Parish is landlocked and claims 680 square miles of which 17 square miles are water. Evangeline Parish is named after Evangeline the heroine of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Poem. It is bordered by Rapides Parish to the north, Avoyelles Parish to the northeast, St. Landry Parish to the east, Acadia Parish to the south, and Allen parish to the west.
