Claiborne Parish, Louisiana Overview

Claiborne Parish is located in the northwestern portion of Louisiana in the Sportsman’s Paradise region. It is a land-locked parish with 767 square miles of land of which 13 square miles are water. Claiborne Parish is named after William C.C. Claiborne, the first Governor of Louisiana. Claiborne Parish is bordered by Columbia Parish, Arkansas to the northwest, Union Parish, Arkansas to the northeast, Union Parish to the east, Lincoln Parish to the southeast, Bienville Parish to the south, and Webster Parish to the west. The Parish Clerk is responsible for personal protection orders, concealed weapons permits, voter registration, election results, vital records, military discharges, circuit court filings, notary public documents and family court information. These records (with the exception of election results) are not considered public record and therefore can only be requested by those that they are about. Marriage records are available online, for a daily, monthly or yearly rate. Additional charges are added for printing. Other documents can be requested directly through the office.
