Bossier Parish, Louisiana

Bossier Parish is located in the state of Louisiana. The parish was formed in 1843 from the western portion of Claiborne Parish and named after Pierre Bossier, a 19th century Louisiana state senator and U.S. representative from Natchitoches Parish. Bossier City is the largest city in the parish, while Benton is the parish seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the parish has a population of approximately 116,979 people and a total area of 867 square miles, of which 27 square miles is water and 840 square miles is land. Bossier Parish borders the following: Miller County, Arkansas, to the northwest; Lafayette County, Arkansas, to the north; Webster Parish to the east; Bienville Parish to the southeast; Red River Parish to the south; and Caddo Parish to the west.

The Recording Department of the Bossier Parish Clerk of Court is charged with the responsibility of maintaining public records in the county.
