Avoyelles Parish is located in the central portion of Louisiana in the Crossroads region. Avoyelles Parish is landlocked with 866 square miles of area with 33 square miles being water. It is named after the native tribe Avoyel that inhabited an area near the Red River. The Avoyelles Parish is bordered by La Salle and Catahoula Parish to the north, Concordia Parish to the northeast, West Feliciana parish to the east, Pointe Coupee Parish to the southeast, St. Landry Parish to the south, Evangeline Parish to the southwest, and Rapides Parish to the west. The Parish Clerk is responsible for personal protection orders as well as concealed weapons permits, circuit and family court filings, vital records, assumed names, military discharges, voter registration, notary public documents, election results and more. All of these documents are available directly from the office with many also available to search online through the portal. The rate is $25 for a day pass or $75 for a monthly one.
The Register of Deeds is responsible for all property related documents and information, including warranty and other deeds, liens, leases, mortgages and property records. This information is considered public record and is available for purchase directly from the office or through the online portal by anyone who would like it.
