Woodford County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1788 and named after William Woodford, a Revolutionary War general. The county seat is Versailles. The primary responsibilities of the Woodford County Clerk are issuing licenses (motor vehicles, watercraft, hunting/fishing and marriage); recording and preserving various legal and land records essential to the county such as deeds, real estate mortgages, power of attorney, easements, real estate options and leases; and carrying out various election-related duties including voter registration, holding primary and regular election management, and preparing election ballots (paper, absentee or mechanical). The County Clerk also provides Notary Public services and assists the PVA and Sheriff in the notification and collection of property taxes.
