Trigg County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1820 and named after Stephen Trigg, a military colonel killed at the Battle of Blue Licks. The county seat is Cadiz. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 14,293 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 481 square miles of which 441 square miles is land and 40 square miles is water. Trigg County borders the following counties: Lyon County to the north; Caldwell County to the northeast; Christian County to the east; Stewart County, Tennessee to the south; Calloway County to the southwest and Marshall County to the northwest.
