Pulaski County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1798 and named after Casimir Pulaski (1746–79), Polish-born Revolutionary War soldier killed at the Battle of Savannah. The county seat is Somerset. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2010, the county has a population of approximately 63,907 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 677 square miles of which 658 square miles is land and 19 square miles is water. Pulaski County borders the following counties: Lincoln County to the north; Rockcastle County to the northeast; Laurel County to the east; McCreary County to the southeast; Wayne County to the southwest; Russell County to the west/CST Border and Casey County to the northwest.
