Mercer County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1785 and named after Hugh Mercer, the Revolutionary War hero who was killed at the Battle of Princeton. The county seat is Harrodsburg. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 21,349 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 253 square miles of which 249 square miles is land and 4.5 square miles is water. Mercer County borders the following counties: Anderson County to the north; Woodford County to the northeast; Jessamine County to the east; Garrard County to the southeast; Boyle County to the south and Washington County to the west. The County Clerk of Mercer County is responsible for issuing marriage, boat and motor vehicles, recording and keeping various legal records, registering and purging voter rolls, and conducting various election duties. Mercer County Fiscal Court Clerk’s Office Information

The County Clerks of any Kentucky County can serve as the Clerk of the Fiscal Court. The Fiscal Court Clerk must attend all meetings of the Fiscal Court, keep full and accurate records of all of its proceedings, attest official documents approved by the court, and perform other duties as the Fiscal Court orders. The Fiscal Court is a court of record. The Fiscal Court of Mercer County consists of the County Judge/Executive and six magistrates representing six magisterial districts. Minutes of the proceedings of each meeting shall be prepared and submitted for approval at the next succeeding meeting. Every official action of the Fiscal Court shall be made a part of the permanent records of the county and filed in the office of the Mercer County Clerk. The County Budget Ordinance and all other County Ordinances shall be on file in the County Clerk’s Office.
