Harrison County, Kentucky Overview

Harrison County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1793 and named after Benjamin Harrison, the co-author of the Kentucky Constitution. The county seat is Cynthiana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 18,518 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 310 square miles of which 306 square miles is land and 3.5 square miles is water. Harrison County borders the following counties: Pendleton County to the north; Bracken County to the northeast; Robertson County to the northeast; Nicholas County to the southeast; Bourbon County to the southeast; Scott County to the southwest and Grant County to the northwest. Harrison County Clerk’s Office Information

The responsibilities of the Harrison County Clerk’s Office are vehicle registration, repossessions, titling of motor vehicles, issuing vehicles licenses and issuing handicap permits. The Clerk is also responsible for recording various land and legal documents. Land records include deeds, condominiums, corporate records, fixture and other UCC filings, land records fees, land use restrictions, liens, mortgages, plats, releases, veteran’s discharges, and wills. The Clerk’s Office also issues marriage licenses, dog licenses, fishing and hunting licenses, provides notary services, and collects delinquent taxes.
