Grant County, Kentucky Overview

Grant County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1820 and named after Samuel Grant (1762–89 or 94), John Grant (1754–1826), and Squire Grant (1764–1833), three of the county’s earliest settlers. The county seat is Williamstown. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 24,753 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 261 square miles of which 258 square miles is land and 2.8 square miles is water. Grant County borders the following counties: Boone County to the north; Kenton County to the northeast; Pendleton County to the east; Harrison County to the southeast; Scott County to the south; Owen County to the west and Gallatin County to the northwest. Grant County Clerk’s Office Information

The Grant County Clerk’s Office handles motor vehicle registration and titling, issuance of marriage licenses, hunting/fishing licenses, and delinquent tax sales. The Clerk’s Office is also responsible for voter registration, administering elections, and other duties pertaining to elections.
