Garrard County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1796 and named after James Garrard, the second Governor of Kentucky. The county seat is Lancaster. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 16,915 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 234 square miles of which 230 square miles is land and 3.9 square miles is water. Garrard County borders the following counties: Jessamine County to the north; Madison County to the northeast; Rockcastle County to the southeast; Lincoln County to the southwest; Boyle County to the west and Mercer County to the northwest. Garrard County Clerk’s Office Information

The Garrard County Clerk’s Office is responsible for voter registration, purging voter rolls, conducting elections, and other election-related duties. The Clerk issues Notary Public certifications. The Clerk’s Office is responsible for issuing motor vehicles licenses, watercraft licenses, hunting, fishing and marriage licenses. The Clerk also collects delinquent taxes. Another important responsibility of the Clerk’s Office is recording and keeping various legal records. Garrard County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office Information

Circuit Court Clerks are elected officials of the court and are responsible for the custody, control, and safe storage of court records for both Circuit and District Courts. The clerks and deputy clerks of the Circuit and District Courts are also responsible for handling receipt of lawsuits and papers for the courts, being present during trials, receiving fines, issuing drivers’ licenses, scheduling juries, and handling bond money.
