Crittenden County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1842 and named after John Jordan Crittenden, the seventeenth Governor of Kentucky. The county seat is Marion. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 9,255people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 371 square miles of which 360 square miles is land and 11 square miles is water. Crittenden County borders the following counties: Union County to the north; Webster County to the northeast; Caldwell County to the southeast; Lyon County to the south; Livingston County to the west and Hardin County, Illinois to the northwest. The responsibilities of Crittenden County Clerk’s Office are vehicle licensing, titling of motor vehicles, issuing marriage licenses, issuing fishing and hunting licenses, voter registration, administering elections, recording land records, issuing notary bonds and collecting delinquent real estate taxes.
