Campbell County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1794 and named after John Campbell (1735–99), Revolutionary War colonel. The county seat is Alexandria and Newport. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2010, the county has a population of approximately 90,988 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 159 square miles of which 151 square miles is land and 8.1 square miles is water. Campbell County borders the following counties: Hamilton County, Ohio to the north; Clermont County, Ohio to the east; Pendleton County to the south and Kenton County to the west. The main responsibilities of the County Clerk’s Office are vehicle registration, repossession, issuing handicap placards, issuing marriage licenses, fishing, and hunting licenses, and collecting delinquent taxes. The County Clerk also records and maintains various land and legal documents such as deeds, condominiums, corporate records, fixture and other UCC filings, land records fees, land use restrictions, liens, mortgages, plats, releases, veteran’s discharges, and wills. In addition, the Clerk’s Office also provides notary services.
