Boone County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1798 and named after Daniel Boone (1734–1820), frontiersman. The county seat is Burlington. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2010, the county has a population of approximately 124,442 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 256 square miles of which 246 square miles is land and 10 square miles is water. Boone County borders the following counties: Hamilton County, Ohio to the north; Kenton County to the east; Grant County to the south; Gallatin County to the southwest; Switzerland County, Indiana to the west; Ohio County, Indiana to the west and Dearborn County, Indiana to the northwest. Boone County Clerk’s Office Information
The main responsibilities of the County Clerk’s Office are vehicle registration, repossession, issuing handicap placards, issuing marriage licenses, fishing, and hunting licenses. The County Clerk’s Office is also responsible for collecting delinquent property tax bills. The County Clerk also records and maintains various land and legal documents.
