Adair County is located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The county was formed in 1802 and named after John Adair, eighth Governor of Kentucky. The county seat is Columbia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 412 square miles of which 405 square miles is land and 7.1 square miles is water. Adair County borders the following counties: Taylor County to the north (EST); Casey County to the northeast (EST); Russell County to the east; Cumberland County to the south; Metcalfe County to the southwest and Green County to the northwest. The Adair County Clerk is responsible for maintaining all public records in the county.
