Wyandotte County, Kansas
Wyandotte County is located in the state of Kansas. The county was created on January 29, 1859, and named after the Wyandot Indians. Kansas City is the most populous city and the county seat, with which it shares a unified government. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 157,505 people and a total area of 156 square miles, of which 152 square miles is land and 4.6 square miles is water, making it the smallest county by area and the fourth-most populous county in Kansas. Wyandotte County borders the following counties: Platte County, Missouri, to the north; Clay County, Missouri, to the northeast; Jackson County, Missouri, to the east; Johnson County to the south; and Leavenworth County to the west.
