Register of Deeds

The Register of Deeds office maintains and preserves the land records of the county, which includes deeds, mortgages, releases, easements, oil and gas leases, assignments, plats, surveys, in addition to many other miscellaneous documents. Some of the miscellaneous documents are military discharges, federal and state tax liens and Power of Attorney just to name a few. The department also files Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings. District Court

The Clerk of the District Court is responsible for keeping records on all cases filed with the Court.

The Kansas Open Records Act allows you to inspect and obtain copies of public records maintained by Kansas courts, as long as those records are not exempt from disclosure. Some case information is available online through appellate case search or district case search (fee-based). Many records maintained by Kansas courts are open for inspection. For record requests, please fax request to 785-743-2726. There is a $12 per hour research fee. Copies are $0.25 each page. Fax fee is $2 for the first page and $0.50 for each additional page.
