Butler County is a county located in the state of Kansas. The county was formed in August 25, 1855. Named after U.S. Senator from South Carolina, Andrew Butler (1796–1857), the county seat is El Dorado and it has a population of 65803 as of 2013. The county has a total area of 1447 square miles, with its land area encompassing 1430 square miles, and its water area 17 square miles.
