Brown County is located in the state of Kansas. Named after Albert Gallatin Brown, the county was formed in August 25, 1855 and its county seat is Hiawatha. It is the policy of Brown County that all records shall be open for public inspection unless otherwise provided for by state statute. A form for record requests are readily available to be downloaded and filled up electronically, then mailed to the Clerk. Requests will be responded to within three business days of the receipt of the request. Copies will be $0.50 a page. When the request requires research, compiling, typing, and or printing records, the charge will be $10.00 per hour, with a minimum fee of $10.00.

Register of Deeds
The Register of Deeds office records many documents related to real estate in Brown County. Deeds, mortgage, releases, oil and gas, assignments, plats, surveys in addition to many miscellaneous documents such as Military Discharges, Cemetery Deeds, Federal and State Tax Liens and Power of Attorney just to name a few, are available in the Office.

The appraiser provides a parcel search feature. The public link allows users to view information used by their office to assist in the valuation of real estate.
