Marshall County, Iowa Overview

Marshall County, Iowa was established in 1846 and named for Chief Justice of the US, John Marshall. The population, as of the 2010 census, was 40,648. The county seat and largest community is Marshalltown. The county, which has a total of 573 square miles, most all of which is land, is neighbors with five other Iowa counties: Hardin to the northwest, Grundy to the northeast, Tama to the east, Jasper to the south, Story to the west. Although 50158 is the largest zip code in use in the county, it is one of 19 total.
