Franklin County, located in Iowa, was established in 1851. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,680. The county seat, and largest community is Hampton. The county named after Benjamin Franklin. The county’s total area is 583 square miles, almost all of which is land, only 1 square mile is water. The county is bordered on all sides by other Iowa counties, Cerro Gordo to the north, Butler to the east, Hardin to the south, Wright to the west.
