Delaware County, Iowa was established in 1837 and named for the state of Delaware. As of the 2010 census, the county’s population was 17,764. The largest community, and county seat is Manchester. The total area of the county is 579 square miles, and all but one of that is land, the remaining one square mile is water. Delaware County has six adjacent Iowa counties including: Buchanan to the west, Clayton to the north, Dubuque to the east, Fayette to the northwest, Jones to the southeast and Linn to the southwest.
