Rush County is located in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county was formed in 1821 and named after Dr. Benjamin Rush, signer the Declaration of Independence. The county seat is Rushville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 17,004 people. Rush County borders the following counties: Henry County to the north; Fayette County to the east; Franklin County to the southeast; Decatur County to the south; Shelby County to the west and Hancock County to the northwest. Rush County Clerk’s Office Information

The Clerk is responsible for administering elections and voter registration. The Clerk also administers the official court records for all court cases with jurisdiction in that county, prepares the Court’s permanent historical record, and processes and issues documents for court cases. Other responsibilities of the Clerk’s office include the collection, distributions, and reconciliation of monies pertaining to court cases. The Clerk also performs marriage ceremonies; processes marriage applications and issues marriage licenses; prepares notary certifications, registers bail agents, and processes applications passports, and licenses for distress sale.
