Cass County is located in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county was formed in 1828 and named after Gen. Lewis Cass, Governor of Michigan Territory and U.S. Secretary of State. The county seat is Logansport. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 38,463 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 414.85 square miles of which 412.16 square miles is land and 2.69 square miles is water. Cass County borders the following counties: Fulton County to the north; Miami County to the east; Howard County to the south; Carroll County to the southwest; White County to the west; and Pulaski County to the northwest. In Indiana, the State Constitution creates the office of “clerk of the circuit court”. The clerk of the circuit court has jurisdiction over the clerical part of the courts’ business and acts as the chief financial officer for all revenues collected on behalf of the court. The clerk acts as the custodian of the court’s record and seal, and processes and accepts filings of commencement of actions in litigation. The clerk also enters judgments and orders of the court, receives money, makes certified copies of the records, issues various licenses such as marriage licenses, alcohol licenses, and other professional licenses.
